Parent Introduction

Everything parents need to know about the Academy

👋 Welcome, Parent!

Before your child starts, here's exactly what RuthNel Tech Academy is, how it works, and what your child will actually see in every single course — no surprises.

🎯 What This Platform Is

RuthNel Kids Academy is a self-paced digital-skills learning platform for children ages 8+ with dedicated Teen Track learning for older learners. Courses use structured lessons, activities and knowledge checks, with progress and certificates connected to the child profile. It is not a recognised qualification — think of it as structured, guided learning and awareness-building alongside a child's regular education.

🛡️ Our Content Safety Standard

Every course is written to stay strictly age-appropriate. We do not include explicit language, sexual content, graphic descriptions of violence or self-harm, or detailed "how-to" instructions for anything harmful. Where a course touches a sensitive topic (bullying, online strangers, emotional wellbeing), it stays at a general, protective level — naming patterns to watch for, never scripts or graphic detail — and consistently points your child back to you or another trusted adult rather than trying to replace that role.

✅ We ran an automated scan across every course for explicit and inappropriate terminology before publishing this introduction. Nothing flagged.

✅ What We Ask You To Know

✓

This is not a substitute for your own conversations with your child about online safety — it's a structured supplement, not a replacement.

✓

The three "Older Kids" courses are held back from general access and only unlock through the Parent Dashboard — not automatically available to any age.

✓

Course progress and certificates are linked to the learner profile so families can return to their learning history after signing in.

✓

One free course (AI Edition) is available with no signup. Everything else will require a membership once payment is set up.

Parent control: free course vs family Academy

Trying the free course: only a parent/guardian email is needed. RuthNel emails a secure link to Understanding AI so we can count starts/completions without creating a child profile.

Subscribing: the adult then creates the family account, gives consent, adds each child using a first name/nickname + private PIN, and receives a household Family Code. Children use Family Code + PIN to enter their private Academy.

Teen Track: teen-labelled courses are available to child profiles when the family has an active RuthNel subscription. Parents should review Teen Track choices and guide age-appropriate use.

Safety: keep the Family Code and child PIN inside the household; review the Parent Digital Safety Centre regularly; and tell children they can always stop, leave, block/report and tell a trusted adult when something online feels wrong.
